A UK Student visa gives you an opportunity to study an eligible course in the UK, provided by an approved education provider. For this visa, you will be required to satisfy several requirements, including UK student visa financial requirements. Financial requirements mean you must demonstrate to the decision maker that you have sufficient funds to cover their course (tuition) fees and living expenses.
However, you will be exempt from showing financial evidence if you:
• have been in the UK with a valid visa for 12 months or more and are now applying for permission to stay
• are a British national overseas or from a country/territory listed under the ‘differential evidence requirement.’
• are applying to obtain entry clearance to the UK or permission to stay here as a Student Union Sabbatical Officer

Summary
The financial rules for UK student visas have changed in 2025. The tuition/course fee has been increased. The maintenance requirement has also gone up. You should be aware of these changes before applying.
Please note that people on a student visa can no longer bring their dependents to the UK except those studying a postgraduate research (RQF Level 7 or above) course that lasts 9 months or more, or a government-sponsored student starting a course that lasts longer than 6 months.
Therefore, you should also be aware of meeting the financial requirements for dependents if you can bring them to join or stay with you in the UK.
