The opening and closing dates for the first ballot of year 2025 for Indian youths have been announced. The ballot will open at 2:30 pm India Standard Time on 18 February 2025 and will close at 2:30 pm India Standard Time on 20 February. The ballot entry is required for Indian nationals looking to apply for India Young Professional Scheme visa. India Young Professional Scheme Visa is especially designed for Indian youths which is similar to the UK youth mobility visa scheme for youths of other countries. The India Young Professional Scheme visa was
launched in February 2023. This is a bespoke, reciprocal arrangement between the UK and India that allows youths of both countries to live and work, and explore the cultures of these 2 countries. India YPS visa allows Indian Nationals aged 18 and 30 to live, work, travel, and experience life in the UK for up to 2 years. Ballot System

India Young Professional Scheme visa is a visa through the ballot system. Every year only up to 3000 successful entries are allowed to apply to come to the UK under this visa scheme.   The ballot system means first you have to enter a ballot which is rolled out every year and if your name is chosen in the ballot then only you can apply for the visa. The names are selected randomly. You can enter the ballot only if you meet the eligibility criteria for the visa.
The ballot opens twice a year. You need to enter the ballot during the time it is open. You can enter the ballot for free. Those who enter the ballot are informed about their result within 2 weeks of the ballot closing through email. Only successful applicants are invited to apply for an India young professional scheme visa.

Who can enter the ballot?

If you are an Indian citizen aged between 18 and 30 and you will be at least 18 years old on the date you plan to travel to the UK. You also must hold an educational qualification that is equivalent to a UK bachelor’s degree or higher you can enter the ballot. You must prove that you can support yourself financially in the UK and to prove this you must have at least £2,530 in savings.

How to enter the ballot in 2025?

  • A scan or photo of your passport

India Young Professional Scheme Visa Ballot in 2025

This year there are 3000 spots available for young Indian professionals. Out of 3000 places, entry for most places will open in the first ballot itself which will open at 2:30 pm India Standard Time on 18 February 2025 and will close at 2:30 pm India Standard Time on 20 February. You can enter the ballot during this period only.
The remaining places will open in the second and final ballot in July. Anyone looking to enter the ballot will be able to enter one ballot for one person only.

What if you grab a spot?

If you enter the ballot and your name is selected you can apply for an India Young Professional Scheme visa you will be informed to the email address you provided while entering the ballot. After receiving the email you will have to apply for the visa, if you choose to, within 90 days. As part of the application, you are required to pay the application fee of £298 along with the immigration health surcharge fee of £1,552.

What if your entry is unsuccessful?

You will be informed about it to your email address.

Can you appeal if your entry to the ballot is unsuccessful?

No, you cannot appeal if your entry in the ballot is unsuccessful.  
However, you can enter the next round of ballots provided you still meet the eligibility criteria.
